Motivation Strategies
- Whole Class
- I will implement a marble system that consists of a jar and marbles. When the students do as they are expected in the class or they get a compliment in the hallway, I will throw a hand full of marbles in the jar and when the jar is filled, the students will get a pizza, cupcake or ice cream party.
- Small Group
- I will have a bulletin board for group activities. Each week the students will compete to be the featured group of the week and their group work or project will be displayed on the board. The students who win will have the option to share their work and project for five minutes to the class.
- Individual
- I will have classroom store for students. The way to earn fake money is for the students to do as they are told, doing something kind for someone else and getting hundreds. The classroom store will open on Friday afternoons for students to buy with the fake money they earned.
- Intrinstic
- Student can replace a vocabulary word homework assignment with something they can create (must include vocabulary words), with teacher approval. This advocates the students' creativity.
